Kubbra Sait On Abortion

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Kubbra Sait opens up about the time she was undergoing an abortion. She says, ” I think when I went through the abortion, I don’t think I was being strong at all. I was just to weak to take it forward. Also I did not have the strength to say ki, ‘Agar hum yeh nahi karenge toh we will live with it.’ I felt very weak at that time, I felt hollow, I felt like I was not worth it at all, but what came out of it much later… was strength, that you made a decision for yourself and what you did is, you stood by your own thoughts, you broke stereotypical patterns, you broke societal norms and no one knew about it man, no one knew about it, I went by myself and got myself through the abortion, I didn’t tell anyone.”

Kubbra continued, “I remember for 2-3 weeks some random thing happened and I went by one of my girlfriends and she went on this trip like, ‘You’re not there, you’re not listening.’ I just told her, ‘Who went through an abortion, you?’, and that’s when it hit and it hit me and that’s when I started weeping and maybe 5-6 years later, while I was bleeding heavily, I was shooting for a travel show, I used to get very hot and sick and extremely cranky and I realised I didn’t tell my director and my director was this amazing lady, Urmi, and I never told her once I didn’t think anyone would understand, but when I wrote it, I knew I don’t care anyone judges because it was not for them, it was for me. If I can’t be kind to myself for the decision I have taken, what’s the bloody point. The regret you we’re talking about; I would have regretted it if I didn’t tell the story.”

Kubbra Sait on how the decision impacted her

“Yeah you don’t see it when it’s happening there, and yeh decision khud hu le rahe ho, and this is not a small decision of your life, you don’t know how it’s gonna impact you for the rest of your life but I’ll happily tell you this, I went to this yearly scan-wan, I got the best insides for a woman, so it’s really good, it’s really good! It all works out and this is the way I have written it in my book because nothing is too heavy and nothing is too light.”
